Prypiat is a ghost town in the north of the Ukraine that you DON’T want to visit. Back in the 70′s, this town housed thousands of scientists & workers, but after the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster of 1986, it was evacuated.
Since then, the city of Prypiat has been desolated. There’s numerous buildings, hospitals and even a big Ferris wheel in various states of decay. A lot of the buildings have been vandalised and roofing material has been stolen, causing the buildings to be flooded during seasons of heavy rainfall.
Probably the most shocking site is a local nursery paved with baby shoes and toys.
The city is located in the Zone of Alienation , a 20 mile radius around the Chernobyl site. The radiation levels finally dropped enough over the last 20 years to allow civilians to tour this ghost town. The city is guarded by guards and police, but visiting permits are easy to obtain when accompanied by a tour guide.
