This toy is on top of my Christmas wish list!

Airswimmers is a toy designed by William Mark Corp. It consists of a lightweight balloon shell filled with helium. The balloon is modelled to look like either a clownfish, or a shark. The balloon can then be remotely controlled using an infrared transmitter. The end result is a fishlike creature “swimming” through the air!

The balloons are almost 60 inches in length, and the controller range is claimed to be 40feet.

The video below shows just how awesome this toy is!

RoboCup is the annual geeky version of the football world cup – football played by fully autonomous robots.

The players never complain, nor do they run out of steam and can play non-stop games if required.

Teams competing in RoboCup have to build and program a robot team which can play a game of soccer against an opponent’s robot team. At the very least, robots must be able to detect the ball and kick it to the goal area. In certain categories in RoboCup, the robots have to be able to detect opponents, strategize, and pass the ball to team mates.

There are various RoboCup categories including:

  • Humanoid : Robots that act and look like humans, subdivided into Teen Size, Kid Size and Adult Size
  • Simulation: Focus is entirely on programming, and the match is played on a computer
  • Nano: Robots so small, that the game must be played under a microscope
  • Standard: Both teams use identical robots which should be able to interact with each other.

RoboCup is hosted annually in countries around the world. For more information on upcoming events, visit www.robocup.org

The world’s largest chocolate bar was recently unveiled by Chicago-based
company Worlds Finest Chocolate. The chocolate treat tipped the scales at
an impressive 5.5 tonnes.

In a huge effort to break the previous record set by the Armenians at The
Grand Chocolate Factory, workers started mixing thousands of kilo’s of
ingredients to create this impressive chocolate bar. They used 2750kg of
sugar, 1000kg of powder milk, 850kg of butter and 600kg of almonds. The end result is a chocolate bar weighing 5.5 tons, with a length of 21m and a
height of just below 1 meter. The bar was unveiled at the company’s
factory.

World’s Finest Chocolate now plans to take the chocolate bar on a tour to
schools around the country.

Nothing beats a fun evening with your friends, playing a friendly game of F1 racing on your PlayStation. Some people go the extra mile and get large screens, full surround sound, and maybe even game controllers with force feedback. But if you have the cash and would like to go all the way, have a look at the Crude Hexatec.

The Hexatec will probably give you the best car racing simulation experience available to the general public. It utilises a six-axis hydraulic system, allowing forces of up to 2G’s to be exerted on the player from virtually any angle. It also contains three large screens and the custom software allows you to race in a variety of cars and on different tracks.

Unfortunately, the high cost of £120,000 puts this toy out of reach for the average Joe.
